Mónica Fonseca

This is a space created for all of us lovers of lifestyle, technology, social work and information - that empowers us in one way or another, and makes our day-to-day life a little easier. I’m Monica Fonseca, journalist and presenter with more than 15 years of experience working in media communications. I began my career in television at the age of 17, and soon after that ,radio entered to my life, quickly followed by journalism and multimedia content.

 

My passions and favorite things have to do with: fashion, the environment, science, health, technology, travel, and family.

 

Since 2007, I’ve been an active environmental ambassador for the United Nations. The environment has been a priority for me since I was a little girl and here’s why: I’ve had the privilege of accompanying my dad, a civil engineer, economist and environmentalist, in his different pro-planet projects. My love and respect for ecology are deeply rooted in my father and grandfather, and have been a great inspiration throughout my life.

 

 
In 2008, I was named  one of Audi’s ambassadors for Colombia and since then, we’ve worked hand in hand in numerous projects.Audi is my greatest ally.

 

I am currently collaborating in a segment, “Las mujeres también hablamos de tecnología” (Women also talk about technology) for Univision’s Despierta América, and once in a while, I take my segment to Univision’s Lánzate, which airs in Los Angeles, California.

 

Together with Olivia Peralta, present The Fabulist, a weekly half-hour show on E! Entertainment Latin America, which focuses on trends and lifestyles. So much fun!

I also presented #TanCosmo for the Cosmopolitan channel, a lifestyle and trends magazine and one of my favorite recent projects.

I’m a businesswoman dedicated to working on image, health, and beauty. I’m currently a partner and spokeswoman for three start-ups with which I completely relate.

 

-  www.instafit.com is a portal for exercise, wellbeing, health and everything related to nutrition.

- www.Be-wear.com a wearable tech company – that we joined forces with Loop to design the first security-related piece of jewelry.

I’m currently living in the United States but I stay closely connected to Colombia and the rest of Latin America.

I have worked with globally recognized TV Networks and Radio stations of great impact in the region.

I am linked to several social and philanthropic projects in which I work as:

-    Spokeswoman for the Millennium Development Goals (reducing child mortality and improving maternal health)

-       Member of the Natalia Ponce De León Foundation’s board of directors

-       Ambassador for the JuanFe Foundation (juanfe.org)

-       Spokeswoman against gender violence and for the fight against breast cancer for the Avon Foundation

In addition to being the face and spokeswoman for several publicity campaigns in the US and Latin America, I also create, advise, and design campaigns for brands and individuals with a special focus on social media.

Monica is a board member of Natalia Ponce de León foundation, a non-profit organization that works with men and women who have been victims of acid attacks in Colombia. She is also an ambassador for Juanfe.org a foundation that focus in helping low-income girls with the objective to educate them and prepare them to join the workforce, and Avon Foundation Colombia an organization that fights against gender violence and breast cancer.

Working hand in hand with the United Nations as spokeswoman and ambassador of its causes is a life commitment through which, to a great extent, I give back what I have received while at the same time inspiring others to do the same. There’s much to do and each of our actions can really make the difference.
